Once upon a time, I drew and painted a whole lot of tiny monsters! I made them in response to a positive review on a mini series of similar work I had made for a charitable gallery show. Alex Hanson of Valley News had this to say about my monsters, “It’s hard not to be taken by Megan Baehr’s precise colorful watercolors of cartoonish animals. They have great wit and clarity.” This is quite possibly the nicest thing anyone has ever said about my work.

I originally set out to make 100 monsters, but the project was abandoned when 2008 got tough for me. Four years later, I came across these cute and quirky fellows again and it rekindled my desire to continue the project. Only, I’m not sure 100 will be my goal this time. I think I will just keep painting them and let the final number decide itself.

As for the 2008 series of tiny monsters, I am offering them up for sale. Now that I’m self-employed, it seems like the right thing to do! There are 60 finished paintings for sale and some unfinished ones you can get in custom colors. Enjoy!
