Nonesuch Haiku

I have started writing haiku for my dolls. You can find them all in the descriptions of the dolls in my shop (minus the Zodiac dolls). Here is a small sampling:

this little lion
is so dapper and dandy
a fine gentleman

lightning fast she runs
streaking across the grasslands
catch me if you can

strange little creature
not a duck nor a beaver
but something unique

owls know a lot
they know what when where and why
but they don’t know hoo

howls fill the night
a villain of fairy tales
the little bad wolf

I think I’m really clever.

Busy Busy Busy!

MoCCA was a blast! Thank you to everyone who stopped by my table. It means a lot to me!

I’m back home and hitting the ground running. I have lots of orders and lots of dolls to make! If you’re waiting for a doll, check out my brand new Order Status page! Your order status number is the first three letters of your last name and the date you placed your order. Check back frequently for updates!

I admit I’m getting really far behind on the Zodiac dolls. I’m sorry if this disappoints anyone! It really is a personal project and paying orders need to come first. I won’t give up, though! I still plan on having them all finished by the end of the year. But the planned monthly releases may be a bit more sporadic from now on.

NEW! Pisces Zodiac Nonesuch Dolls

I FINALLY finished Pisces! YAAAY!

They are based on koi fish. The mother fish is a Kohaku and the baby fish is a Tancho. The baby fish stands a mere 1.75 inches tall! I didn’t think I could make a Nonesuch doll that small, but here is proof that I can! I LOVE THEM AND THEY ARE MY FAVORITE. (Not that I’m bias being a Pisces or anything…)

New Shopping Cart

Finally, a dream realized! Not only is NonesuchGarden.com live, it now has its very own shopping cart!

After researching a few different shopping cart services, I decided to give BigCartel a whirl. It was designed with artists in mind and is fairly easy to use and customize. My shop is just the basic “Sexy” theme with quite a bit of CSS code tweaking. I’m not versed in CSS code, but I managed to make my shop look more or less like the rest of my website without too much trouble. (Searching Google for coding tips helped!) I’m very pleased with what I was able to accomplish!

What does this mean for my Etsy Shop? Nothing really! I will still keep my Etsy Shop obsessively well maintained. For now, my BigCartel shop will only feature Open Edition dolls that I have in stock. Etsy will feature all of my Made to Order, Limited Edition, and Seasonal dolls. This will help me avoid selling the same item at both locations by mistake. If BigCartel proves to be successful for me I may give it a little more priority, but I’m going to keep it small for now and see how it goes.

Coming Soon!

Spring is in the air! I can feel it despite the snow showers we had yesterday and the thick ice I found on my car this morning… Earlier this week I saw the first crocus shoots poking defiantly out of the frosted ground. There are robins singing in the trees by my house. Yes, spring is on its way!

Nonesuch Garden is getting ready to celebrate Spring with five new Nonesuch dolls! Can you guess what they are? Easter bunnies!! Each one is a different springtime color with a flower name to match. They will be debuting in my Etsy Shop on March 20th; the first day of Spring!

Also coming soon is this month’s Zodiac doll: Pisces! I know I’m behind, but I promise I will make all 12 signs before the end of the year.
